Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
